Joy Trimmer Biography

Joy Trimmer is the Senior Director of Government Affairs for the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS). Her responsibilities include overseeing the Academy’s advocacy activities and messaging at the federal and state levels, working with other medical organizations and coalitions, coordinating the Academy’s annual advocacy conference, and assisting the Board of Directors on legislative, grassroots and political matters. She also serves as the Director of ENT PAC, the Academy’s political action committee.

 

Prior to joining the AAO-HNS in 2006, Ms. Trimmer served for six years as Senior Lobbyist/Assistant Director for the Division of Congressional Affairs at the American Medical Association. Ms. Trimmer also has experience on Capitol Hill, serving as Staff Counsel/Judiciary Legislative Assistant for former U.S. Congressman Ed Pease.

 

Ms. Trimmer is a graduate of Indiana State University (summa cum laude) and obtained her law degree from Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington. She is a licensed attorney in Indiana and is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association.

 

U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ-6) Biography

Congressman Pallone is serving his 24th year in Congress. He is the founder of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans and sits on the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he is the ranking member of the House subcommittee on Health. The subcommittee has exclusive jurisdiction over Medicaid, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and shares jurisdiction of Medicare with the House Ways and Means Committee. The Health Subcommittee oversees public health, biomedical programs, food and drug safety, mental health and research, hospital construction and all health care homeland security-related issues.
