Policies and Guidelines for writers in AAPI Journal

AAPI Journal seeks articles from members on medical and social matters,
memorable experiences in your life, practice tips and techniques etc. Articles may be sent
as e-mail(Microsoft word, if possible) attachments only. Feature articles should be about
1 - 1.5 pages (500 -750 words), and news items about ¼ to ½ page (100 words). Stories
should be based on personal experiences, should be written in a conversational style, easy
to read and must be relevant to our journal. Kindly do not send any scientific papers or
case reports which are more suitable for a peer reviewed journal.

We also encourage submissions for the regular columns “A Glimpse of My Life,”
“The best of AAPI humor,” “AAPI and Poetry” and, “AAPI Travelogues,” “The Best of
AAPI Humor (from personal experiences)” “Interesting Cases with a moral to the
readers,” etc. Author photographs and illustrative pictures for the articles are welcome.
In discussing personal stories, the more specific you can be about your situation
including the impact on your patients, the better. Also, please include in your response
your specialty, practice situation and contact information especially e-mail which will be
published with your article and if you'd be willing to talk to us at greater length about
your experience.

We hope to publish 4 issues during every academic year - Fall, Winter, Spring
and Summer (to coincide with AAPI Convention). Deadlines for submission will be
September 1, December 1, (2010) March 1 and May 1 (2011). Also, we are
introducing a Journal Watch containing short easily readable summaries of recent
clinical articles relevant to Indian American physicians.

The Editorial committee reserves the right to accept or reject any articles and edit
all accepted articles as needed. Please visit our web site www.aapiusa.org for detailed
instructions.
