AAPI Responds to Terrorist Attack in Pune

Washington, D.C. – AAPI released the following statement in response to the terrorist attack in Pune yesterday.

“This attack is just the latest provocation India has faced, making it virtually the only nation in the global community to continually show remarkable restraint in the face of ongoing terrorism,” said Dr. Vinod K. Shah, President of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

“Citizens of India, Iran, Sudan, Nepal, Taiwan and Germany suffered injuries in this attack, indicating the global reach of this senseless violence. We give our sincerest condolences to the families who lost loved ones in this attack.

“We will continue to advocate for stronger U.S.-India ties, increased tourism to India and encouraging further investments and business ties with India. Terrorist attacks will not deter our support for India, nor will they stop India's rise as a global power. The Indian American physician community remains committed to showing our solidarity with the people of Pune and India at this time.”
