AAPI Commends Historic Victories of AAPI Members in State House Races

Washington, D.C. - Today, the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin offered its warmest congratulations to AAPI members Dr. Prasad Srinivasan for winning his election to the 31st district of the Connecticut State House of Representatives and Dr. Janak Joshi for securing victory in the 14th district of the Colorado State House of Representatives.

“This is an amazing day for AAPI as we celebrate the victory of two of our own members in statehouses in Connecticut and Colorado,” said Dr. Ajeet Singhvi, AAPI President. “The rise of Indian Americans continues across all facets of life in America, including politics.

“Dr. Srinivasan and Dr. Joshi are well-suited for their new roles as legislators, being physicians and small business owners. Dr. Srinivasan will be the only physician in the Connecticut General Assembly while Dr. Joshi practiced medicine for more than thirty years, with both now bringing a unique health care perspective to their respective legislative bodies.

“Both Dr. Srinivasan and Dr. Joshi have been involved in their local communities, giving back and helping others for years. Now, those same communities have responded by electing them to represent their best interests in their state houses. We are so proud of both Dr. Srinivasan and Dr. Joshi for their victorious elections and wish them the very best in the years ahead,” concluded Dr. Singhvi.

Dr. Prasad Srinivasan was elected as a Republican to represent the 31st district of the Connecticut State House of Representatives. Dr. Janak Joshi was elected as a Republican to represent the 14th district of the Colorado State House of Representatives.
