AAPI Condemns Mumbai Terrorist Blasts

Washington, D.C. – The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) condemned in the strongest terms today the terrorist attacks that occurred in Mumbai, which resulted in the deaths of more than 20 people and injured more than 100.

“As physicians who are taught and trained to preserve life, it is unthinkable to see the actions of those who have been trained to destroy innocent lives,” said newly elected AAPI president Dr. Sunita Kanumury. “We grieve for those lost to this senseless violence and express our sincerest condolences to their families.

“We condemn in the strongest terms possible these attacks and call on the U.S. government to assist the Indian government in this investigation. If the suspects are traced back to Pakistan, it is time for our government to take the appropriate actions to ensure we cut off the source of
terrorism emanating from Pakistan once and for all.”
